The Bishop’s Latin School Alumni Association has created a 2010 St. Paul’s Seminary Scholarship to Rome. One or more seminarians from St. Paul’s will be awarded these funds to defer the costs of attending the classes in Rome in June 2010. Seminarians can earn 4.5 hours of approved credits in this 21 day program while taking courses in Roman Catholic Canon Law, Roman law, and Legal Process for Canonization. Classes are taught by Duquesne University Law School Faculty and guest lecturers by various officials in the Roman Curia.
Roman Law is taught by Duquesne professor, Dr Samuel Astorino.
Roman Catholic Canon Law is taught by Dean Emeritus, Nicholas P. Cafardi, (BLS ‘67) and a pastoral dimension is provided by Rev. Louis F. Vallone (BLS ‘65).
The Legal Process of Canonization is taught by Duquesne Professor Ronald J. Ricci.
Students are housed in the Trinitarian Guesthouse, Casa Per Ferie Santa Maria alle
Fornaci, located 300 meters from St. Peter’s Basilica. Tuition and housing in 2009 were $4,200, and travel costs to and from Rome are not included.
We are requesting that alumni and friends of The Bishop’s Latin School assist us in sending as many interested seminarians as possible. Any donation is 100% tax deductible and will help to defray the costs for the seminarians. We thank you for all your contributions in the past. Please know that 100% your contributions will be awarded to the seminarians and will be greatly appreciated.
